My name is Jordan Iris Diamond. I live in Fort Worth, Texas and I am a major dancer! I dance almost every day of the week and I LOVE it. I dance at Dance Concept, also known as my second home.
I am having a bat mitzvah in late September. A bat mitzvah is Jewish tradition that represents you going into the young adult life. During the process of becoming a young woman or man, you have to learn many different prayers and blessings in Hebrew which is very difficult. It takes a lot of hard work, perseverance, and determination to accomplish this task. Along with your bat mitzvah, you do a community service project, known as a mitzvah project. Usual mitzvah projects could involve donating stuffed animals to a children's hospital or tutoring children. I wanted to think outside the box and combine my two passions, dancing and helping others, for my mitvah project. What better way to do so than with a dance flash mob!
For this specific flash mob, it will involve dancing and just having fun! You can participate in many ways! You can dance, donate, or both! You can also come watch and cheer us on! All donations go straight to M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. Half of the money raised will go to the Alan L. Gold Memorial Fund for Brain Cancer Research and half will go to breast cancer research.
Cancer has hit my family hard. My grandfather Poppy passed away from brain cancer soon after I was born. My great aunt was diagnosed with Leukemia and passed away in 2014. And sweet Mamie, my grandmother, has been through breast cancer - but Mamie is a trooper and is fighting it.
I would not be the person I am today if it were not for my parents, my sister, my dance teachers (Debbi Jo Thibeau, Leslie Senevey, and Michael Miles), and of course, friends and family.
THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION!!
CHECK OUT THE PICTURES POSTED FOR MORE DETAILS!! XOXO
