I recently signed up to become a CASA volunteer in Ocean County, New Jersey.
CASA stands for "Court Appointed Special Advocate." We are trained volunteers, appointed by family court judges, to advocate for the best interests of children. These children are part of the child welfare system because of an allegation of abuse or neglect. We make sure children receive the services they need, that they are not moved from placement to placement and that they find a safe, permanent home as soon as possible.
Currently, there are over 700 children in Ocean County living in the foster care system. Nearly 580 of these children are on a waiting list for a CASA of their very own. In 2015, CASA of Ocean County recruited, trained and professionally supervised 68 volunteers that served 164 of these children.
Your contribution (no amount is too small) helps us to recruit, train and support new volunteers. Please help us stand up and say, “I am for the Child."
Thank you for helping to make a difference for at risk children!
