EVENT DATE: Sep 17, 2014
Hi! My name is Vanessa Partida, a triathlon athlete and creator and founder of iAMHealthy&Fit. iAMHealthy&Fit started at the beginning of 2013 to persuade my goal. My goal is to qualify and participate in major triathlons and also help and motivate others to start a healthy and active lifestyle.
About 4 months ago, I set the goal to ride 40 miles 3 times a week to help 99%RIDE to raise funds. 99%RIDE is a foundation that maximize awareness of the plight of millions of children in third world countries. They raise funds for small-scale projects concerning children & education. Currently, 99%RIDE is cycling from Alaska to Argentina. This is over 17,000 miles.
I felt really inspired and moved by their mission that I offered to help. I set the goal to raise $1 dollar for every mile I ride but due to a bike accident in April, I was not able to continue. I severely fractured my left elbow and had other injuries that required time to heal.
It has been a few months now since my accident. I am still on the path of recovery but the good news is that I am ready to ride my bike again. :D
Dirk Spits from 99%RIDE has ridden 17,000 kilometers (10,563 miles) already and has helped different organization throughout his way. Since he still has 14,000 km (8700 miles) more to go, I would like to ride this same distance and help them raise funds.
Please, help me reach my goal! All money raised will go to 99%RIDE and the organizations they help.
If you would like to ride to start a healthy and active lifestyle or to help 99%RIDE raise funds too, please join me.
You can create your own challenge to make your ride more fun.! For example: My challenge is to ride 30-40 miles 3 times a week. You can ride less or more miles depending on your fitness goal. If you can ride more than 30-40 miles, I will ride those extra miles with you!
I will be riding my mountain bike so the start will not be as fast as it used to be but I will eventually switch to my road bike...
I will start riding September 17th. Every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. (Staring point, time and routes may vary but I will notify in advance) You must wear a helmet when riding. That is rule #1
Please, help me reach my goal!
