Father Franco Cellana
Father Franco Cellana, a Consolata Missionary, born in Tiarno di Sopra (TN) on 1 October 1942, the fourth of a large family of twelve children.
He attended elementary school in Tiarno di Sopra. He joined the Institute Consolata Missions, in February 1953 he attended middle school in Rovereto (TN) and Biadene (TV) 1953 to 1958 before moving on to high school in Varallo Sesia (VC) 1958-1961.
He attended the novitiate at the Certosa di Pesio (CN) in the years 1960 and 1961 and Philosophy in Turin from 1961 to 1963 and studied theology in Turin (1963 - 1967) and Madrid (1967 - 1968).
He was ordained priest in Madrid December 17, 1967 and celebrated his first Mass in Tiarno di Sopra 20 June 1968.
Obtained a licentiate in theology at the Universidad de Comillas in Madrid in 1970.
In Spain performs the duties of a trainer and administrator in Madrid from 1968 to 1972; missionary animator in Valladolid from 1972 to 1974 and regional administrator in Madrid from 1974 to 1978.
In 1978 he was sent to London to study English in preparation for its departure for the mission
Arrival in Tanzania in the mission of Matembwe (Diocese of Njombe) to support p. Camillo Caliari "Baba Camillo." In 1982 he was appointed administrator of Region Tanzania until 1988 when he was appointed parish priest of Igwachanya (Diocese of Njombe) until 1991.
In 1992 he was recalled to Italy, in Turin, to carry out the activities of missionary until 1993, when he was elected general counsel of the Institute, charge that the snow until 1999. During this period must endure several hospital admissions due to a severe sunburn.
In 2000 he was sent back to Africa and more specifically in Kenya, where he was appointed pastor of the church of the Consolata in Nairobi until 2005 when he was appointed parish priest of Kahawa West (Nairobi) until 2006, when he was elected regional superior of Kenya, a position he still holds today.
