Hi, thanks for visiting our page. Our senior global team from Investec Asset Management has taken on a personal challenge that will test the limits of all of our endurance levels (some more than others!). In three weeks’ time, we’re running a marathon (or half as the case may be) at high altitude across the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya to support our longstanding charitable partner, Tusk.
The journey of our own business, Investec Asset Management, began in Africa before moving to the rest of the world where we invest over $110bn on behalf of our international clients. We believe that no person or organisation should ever forget its roots, and our mutual desire to contribute to a better Africa aligns us with Tusk.
Tusk’s mission is simple: protecting wildlife, supporting communities, and promoting education – all critical pillars of preserving our natural heritage for our children, their children, and future generations. Tusk currently supports 53 field projects in 18 African countries that work not only to protect the iconic species of our world, but aim to alleviate poverty through sustainable development and education amongst rural communities who live alongside this stunning wildlife. For the cost of £10,000, a new fully equipped classroom can be built or a water project built to totally transform the landscape and a community’s quality of life. In so doing, Tusk’s initiatives will help to address the statistics that are all too real - last year, 25,000 elephants were killed, and over 1000 rhinos poached – a rate of decline that will see extinction for many of the species that we know and love.
