First and foremost, I am a mommy-to an amazingly brilliant, funny, gorgeous, energetic, mischevious, and loveable 3-year old boy (in July), who keeps me constantly on the go. We have so much fun-we laugh every day, because I am "a silly mommy" and we live with my mom, so Ian gets the benefit of two generations of love. Being a parent is unequivocally the hardest and most exhausting job on the planet--but it's also the most rewarding and worthwhile.
I have a background in education, theatre and music, but I haven't performed on stage for a dozen years (Though I do a great deal of singing and dancing for and with Ian). That's when my job started becoming a career. I am proud to be a nonprofit development professional-raising funds and awareness in support of causes about which I care deeply.
For instance, I have a deep and unwavering passion for children-all children-and for making sure that they have the love and support they need-and deserve-to rise to their greatest potential. I adopted Ian through Illinois' foster care system, which is why I love working at Illinois Action for Children-helping to ensure that the most vulnerable and innocent children are able to receive the high quality care, education and developmental foundation that is absolutely critical to their future academic and life success. I don't want to begin to imagine what Ian's life would have been like or how he would be growing and developing if he wasn't living in a nurturing, loving, and stable home and receiving top notch care and education from his pre-school.
You may also find me, from time to time, personally fundraising for other causes and issues close to my heart, such as headache/migraine research, in hopes of finding a cure for a condition that causes me personal pain every day; cancer and heart disease, which have stolen or impeded the lives of too many loved ones; and dementia/Alzheimer's Disease, which took my father from me repeatedly for nearly three years before he passed away in 2015.
