February 28, 2016
EVENT DATE May 27, 2016
Join us for the 3rd annual Ruck of Honor: A Tribute to Our Fallen Heroes* on May 27th, 2016! Together we will walk 22 miles with 22+ pound rucksacks on our backs to honor the fallen and raise awareness on PTSD and Veteran suicide. We'll start in Veterans Memorial Park in Glencoe, Illinois at 8A.M. and end at Milton Lee Olive Park in Chicago. We will be fundraising for future Chicago-area events and Vet Togethers. What are IAVA VetTogethers? IAVA VetTogethers are empowering local events uniting IAVA members and their supporters. VetTogethers are member-organized and member-led. When are VetTogethers? They take place on or around the 11th day of every month. Veterans Day is the 11th day of the 11th month every year. IAVA VetTogethers make every 11th day Veterans Day. Where are VetTogethers? VetTogethers are on the ground in communities large and small across America. What happens at VetTogethers? You’ll get the latest scoop on all that’s going on in in the veterans community. From updates on the New GI Bill to fixes at the VA to what our team is doing in DC, we’ll keep you in the loop on how we’re fighting for you. You’ll also get to connect with old friends and meet new ones. It’ll be a blast, with activities like bowling, happy hours, movie screenings and more! And most importantly, you’ll have access to all of IAVA’s free programs and resources. Just remember. Your fellow vets need you. Every IAVA VetTogether may have folks who have just got back from overseas. They need to know that there is a community of veterans to support them — that’s what VetTogethers are all about.
