Hi my name is Zoe Acker and I am 11 years old! I’ve been raising money for the shelter since I was 5 years old with my lemonade stands. Since then I have raised close to $9,000.
Last summer my friends and I started a Lemonade Club to help raise money for the shelter. We have so much fun!
There are a lot of friends that join in and help. Adrianna, Riley, Casey, Ava, Owen and Ashton are some of the members of the club. We all work really hard at the stand, holding signs and yelling out to the cars. Owen and Ashton are soooo funny! If a car doesn’t stop they’ll chase it down the street until they turn around and come to get a lemonade!
Do you know what is really cool about our tiki stand? It travels! We can pack it up in the back of our car!
Maybe you would like us to come to your office or picnic? That would be cool.
We were the first lemonade club for the Dearborn Animal Shelter, but we do not want to be the only ones! Wouldn’t it be cool if there were tons more lemonade clubs raising money for the dogs and cats?
We need to get a new home for the dogs and cats! It is up to us to make it happen – they need us!!!!

One question we are asked often is “When are YOU going to build the new shelter?” Our answer? “When WE rally together as a community to make it happen!”
After 22 years of providing shelter to more than 47,300 animals and offering high-quality service to the community, we are embarking on a campaign to build a new Animal Adoption & Education Center. We are nearing the finish line of our campaign, with just $1.3 million to reach our goal. Please join us in our efforts to “Build a Home with Heart.” We’ve always had the heart . . . now we need a new home.
