Iowa City Climate Advocates Brings Music
Organized by: Andrew Gutman
The Iowa City Climate Advocates would like to sponsor the June 13th Iowa City Summer of the Arts Movie Night which will be opened with a musical performance by bicycling eco-musician Paul Doffing. Our sponsorship will help the Climate Advocates get the word out about climate change and the local and national projects we are working on. These projects include spurring legislators to pass an economically stimulating carbon fee, sponsoring climate training workshops, letter and editorial writing campaigns and much more.
We need $600 to sponsor the show and cover musician costs. In addition to helping spread Paul Doffing’s musical message, our sponsorship includes listing our name in the Summer of the Arts programs with exposure to over 30,000 attendees, and the chance to introduce our group to those attending the show. And there is a treat for you too... with $15 or more donation you will get a free music download. See below!
If we exceed our goal, half of the extra money will go to ICCA general fund and the other half to Paul. Dealing with climate change is a tall order but Iowa City Climate Advocates is working hard to educate the public and influence public policy on the issue.
Since 2012 Paul Doffing has biked twice the distance across the United States (8,000 miles), performing over 100 shows in 16 states while promoting a mindset of sustainability and reduced dependence on fossil fuels. At the end of this month Paul will be releasing his 3rd studio album, Songs from the (quaking) Heart. In June, Paul and his partner Jen will bicycle 600 miles to 9 sustainability focused performance events around Iowa, and then continue cycling to performances around the U.S. in 2015 and internationally in 2016 and 2017. Learn about Paul and his music at www.pauldoffing.com and www.freedomfromfueltour.com We are excited to be able to contribute to his success and have him contribute to ours. Please join us.
Paul is offering a free download of his new album when it comes out if you donate $15 or more! Make sure to include your email address when you donate and please leave a comment if you would like the album download. On June 1st an email will be sent to you with the link for the download.
Who we are:
A group of individuals from widely different social, economic, faith, and political backgrounds who came together bound by a common concern for the environment, with a desire to engage in effective and meaningful action to protect it. We hold these convictions: that it is our collective responsibility to protect this world on which all life depends, and that we are bound by human compassion to work towards social justice for those most greatly affected by our failure to do so. As our group continues to grow, please come and add your voice to ours. It is time to get on with this difficult and most important of work.
