INCLUDING THE EXCLUDED
Knowing the fact that more than 60% of Pakistan’s population is between 15-35 years in age and almost 80% of this huge majority is excluded from the meaningful education and livelihood processes and opportunities; the purpose of IDSP’s Interventions is to reduce and eventually end the exclusion of majority of young people from mainstream Education and Livelihood opportunities in the country. IDSP achieves its purpose by providing free learning spaces to under privileged members of society who are directly or indirectly denied their right to earn a livelihood. IDSP fondly refers to such individuals as “walk-outs” as opposed to “drop outs”.
IDSP’S University of Community Development is the natural evolution of Institute for Development Studies and Practices’ (IDSP) fourteen years’ practices, experiences, lessons, evaluations, research and studies. The University offers theory and practice/research based courses to create a rich human resource of social and intellectual entrepreneurs. These courses are knitted into a conceptual framework that starts from self to family, community and finally the world. IDSP believes that if positively utilized, the rich youth human resource has the potential of steering the country’s destiny towards, peace, prosperity, development and democracy.
In last fourteen years, the university has graduated 6000 learners and each graduate learner of IDSP has impacted more than 2000 people of their families, communities and districts while total learners impacted more than 120,000,000 (One Crore Twenty Lack) individuals across the country since 1998. A good number of learners has established their own Social organizations or generated rights based movements across the country. IDSP’s recent third party evaluation’s analyses presents that 90% of total IDSP graduate are engaged in their livelihood activities with dignity and meaningfulness. Read Impact Study
