IED SURVIVORS' SUMMIT 2014
Organized by: Darlene Elsbury
EVENT DATE Oct 11, 2014
Join Unbridled HEARTS, LLC in helping IED Survivors Recover, Reconnect, and help each other while also helping themselves. Donate to the upcoming Survivors Summit hosted by Unbridled HEARTS, LLC, the first in a series of events that will honor IED Survivors, October 10-12, 2014.
Veterans, Survivors, their spouses, family, friends and caregivers will explore the therapeutic benefits and rewards of equine-assisted activities at a safe, non-clinical 40-acre horse farm in Polo, Illinois. The goal is to enhance their wellness and enrich their success so these survivors do not merely survive, but thrive! With our herd of horses as healers, they will get hands-on interaction and learn coping strategies for post traumatic stress, depression, traumatic brain injury, and survivors' grief. No riding experience necessary; no horseback riding required.
Also that weekend, meet and greet fellow IED survivors, like Sargeant Brian Saaristo, a veteran golfer and double amputee, who will discuss and demonstrate therapeutic benefits of golf at Edgewood Golf Course, across the street from the home of Unbridled HEARTS. Join him and play 9 or 18 holes.
Other highlights: Friday night, October 10, is a moonlight dinner cruise on Rock River; Saturday, a cowboy campfire, and a Sunday also offers a two-hour canoe trip, weather permitting. Guest speakers are IED survivors, fallen soldier survivors, and equine experts who specialize in wellness for veterans.
Funds shall help finance the next event minimizing costs for veterans; Funds will also launch an IED Survivors Foundation and website to provide ongoing support, services, and events for this growing population and their unique needs, especially in the area of suicide prevention.
Thank you, in advance, for your generous support, honoring those who courageously served and survived, against the odds.
Feel free to share with fellow veterans and IED Survivors.
