THE STORY:

Shortly after the death of 1st Lt. Travis Manion in Iraq on Apr. 29, 2007, the fallen Marine’s mother, Janet Manion, founded the Travis Manion Foundation with a goal of honoring the fallen by challenging the living. Until her death on Apr. 24, 2012, Janet worked tirelessly to help families of other fallen service members, veterans, and active duty troops. The words her son spoke before leaving for his second and final deployment to Iraq – “If Not Me, Then Who...” – inspired Janet every day as she built the Travis Manion Foundation from the ground up. With Travis and Janet’s legacies providing a source of daily inspiration, the Travis Manion Foundation’s staff and volunteers work day and night to assist members of the military community.

Inspired by best friends, United States Naval Academy roommates, and Fallen Heroes, Marine 1st Lt. Travis Manion and LT (SEAL) Brendan Looney, Team Travis & Brendan (T&B) is our grassroots program, bringing the “If Not Me, Then Who…” movement to your local community. All across the country, people are taking their unique interests, passions, and talents and transforming them into community fundraisers and athletic endeavors.

Travis Joseph Lemma Manion was born Nov. 19, 1980 in Camp Lejeune, NC, to an active duty Marine family. After settling in Doylestown, PA, Travis went on to LaSalle College High School where his strong leadership qualities set him apart both athletically and academically. He was an all-league standout in wrestling, football and lacrosse, a member of five championship teams, and an All-American wrestler. Travis was best known as a motivating and popular figure to his classmates. It was for these traits that Travis was awarded the Hal Selvey, Jr. Memorial Award for Unselfish Dedication and Leadership. This combination of leadership, athleticism, and academic achievement opened the door to his appointment to the United States Naval Academy.
