Tues Dec 16 update:
David “Iggy” Rucker and Alfredo Reyes face felony aggravated battery charges resulting from the Chicago Police Department melee at the #MillionMarchChi demonstration Sat. Dec. 13. Bond was set at $75,000 each Sunday, December 14, which means each needs $7,500 to get out. Alfredo was released Monday, Dec 15, thanks to his family's extensive efforts. We still need $8,000 (including fees) to get Iggy out. Any funds beyond those needed for bond will go to Iggy's and Alfredo's legal costs. Please donate generously, every contribution makes a difference.
A generous donor has given us a temporary loan to get Iggy out Tuesday, Dec. 16. But we still need to raise the full amount here.
Iggy suffered significant injuries, and will be getting medical attention ASAP after his release. He is a young Black revolutionary from Englewood who has jumped into the fight for the emancipation of humanity and to end police brutality with both feet. He just started a new job.
Alfredo is a 21 year-old from Cicero, IL who went to the protest with his brothers and friends. He's been working in the same job for more than 2 1/2 years.
Saturday, December 13 was a tremendous day of outrage and protest across the country, including here in Chicago. Hundreds of thousands of people across the country, including many people demonstrating for the first time, took the streets. Stop Mass Incarceration Network nationally and in Chicago joined with many organizations to make the powerful political demand MORE POLICE ACCOUNTBILITY.
The Independent Police Review authority reports there has been over 306 CPD shootings in the past 5 years ending in 90 fatalities!! This is completely unacceptable!!!
Many more people must join in defending those arrested, and come back bigger and stronger in the face of the attacks! Donate generously to get Iggy and Alfredo out of jail immediately!
TELL ME WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOK LIKE!!!!
