On June 2003, I lost my father to a heart failure. It has been 9 years since our family big loss and I am now inspired and finally found my courage to do something I’ve always wanted to do; to make a difference.
I signed up for my first full marathon and decided that this is the perfect opportunity to show my support to prevent heart disease. This is about giving life and giving back to the community, and I am taking action locally by supporting the UCSF’s Pediatric Cardiology
How It Works:
UCSF’s Pediatric Cardiology division continues to make a difference in the lives of children and expecting mothers with high-risk pregnancies who are impacted by heart complications. Below are examples of how the Division of Pediatric Cardiology uses donated funds:
• Patient Care - Future donations may be used to purchase toys or videos to occupy the children, and make the patient environment as accommodating as possible.
• Research - Donations play a vital role in financially supporting the efforts of our researchers investigating ways to improve the livelihood of patients with heart complications.
• Education - Donations fund scholarships and educational programs. UCSF’s goal is to ensure that patients receive certified expert care is the continued education of its Pediatric fellows and residents.
