Regardless of the situation that got me to become homeless, the point is, I am here. I am also not the only one in this position, apparently. Being here, I have learned that anyone can find themselves in this situation. I have also come to learn that it’s not so much about where we stand as in what direction we are moving! That’s where I-HELP has come in for me. Without I-HELP, I would not have been able to accomplish all I have, to not only find my stability, but to maintain it. I am grateful that I-HELP has been here to support me through my struggle. I understand that I-HELP is not a securely funded program. However, I want to do my part to help I-HELP continue to help the homeless. Many times, I’ve found myself offering money and such other things to homeless people I’ve seen on the streets, often wondering if that money was going to the right thing and always hoping that it would. By raising money for the I-HELP shelter program, I know first hand that it will go directly to helping a person in need by providing shelter, clothes, food and more to help support homeless individuals with moving forward to a point of self-sufficiency.
