Fund The Race4Hope: #HeroIsTheNewBlack!
Organized by: Christianne Taylor
Greetings to you! We are mother and daughter writers, who are trying to help save lives of Black and Brown youth who may be targeted unfairly or lacking in self-esteem, or otherwise at risk, through the power of knowledge. We are also trying to enlighten society as a whole. We want to make a difference, by compiling vital research and writing positive Black contribution info, with hero images from the past and present, to put on TV PSA minutes like, "The More You Know", with a compilation booklet. Also needed is funding to finish our 1st Black Superhero character novel and film script, a much needed role model endeavor to inspire youth to dream and acheive. Our intention is to combat negative stereotypes and misconceptions, encourage positive perception and self image, and help to save lives in the process, showing how much "#BlackLivesMatter", through this project. In the news, there has been so much revealing the horrendous misconception authorities and others in power have of Black and Brown peoples. This is not only from not venturing in to get to know other communities and people who don't look like yourself-- the culprit is also the influences of multi-media, pop culture and books that fail to reflect positive images, true facts and positive information about racial minorities-- people of color. As a result, many people ignorantly judge others as negative stereotypes and monoliths, derived by those limited and often erroneous sources. History text books in America, have also traditionally omitted facts of positive contribution of people of color, that should have been included-- furthering the misconceptions and stereotypical thinking. A lot of damage has been done, and we are seeing the affects of it, like Black and Brown people being targeted, treated like their lives don't matter-- hopeless youths dropping out of school, turning to crime or self hatred that blocks them from their good. Psychology matters!-- A solution is to help build self esteem through the pride and self respect that self knowledge brings. Another is to help educate society, along with endangered youth-- of the great positive contribution to America and the world, given from a great people-- like in invention, innovation, literature and heroes-- and possibly save lives through a sense of self worth, and by fostering understanding from others, and an appreciation and respect for a people-- who are often misunderstood and misrepresented. This is a human problem-- that all of us need to get on board with-- to help heal the world. Our plan is to incorporate some vital Black contribution facts from our PBS Documentary, "Did You Know?.. Well You Should!" which won wide acclaim, launch new research and compile and write added facts and info. We need your help to see this project to fruition, to afford time and necessary activities, research travel, and updated writing tools and equipment. We are promoting this project as a movement-- to dispel bad stereotypes and change erroneous and often dangerous negative mindsets, into the positive, by spreading-- "Hero is the new Black!" based on true facts. Pass it on.. We must change perception with truth-- Hero is the new Black! It's up to us all to make a difference. Thank you for your support! --TP and Christi Luv
