BENEFITING: INTERNATIONAL JUSTICE PROJECT
EVENT DATE: May 20, 2013
The International Justice Project (IJP) and Voices for Sudan have been invited to the second high-level Civil Society Forum on Sudan and South Sudan in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. While in Ethiopia, we plan to visit the refugee camps near the town of Asosa, at the Ethiopian-Sudanese border, and we need your support to raise $2,500.00 to cover the cost and expenses associated with this trip.
There are 3 camps near Asosa (Sherkole, Tongo and Bambasi, about 30 miles outside of the city), and most of the refugees in these camps are from Sudan. They have fled the ongoing violence in the Blue Nile and South Kordofan regions, as well as the Darfur region. The increased violence over the past year has caused a large influx of refugees into the Ethiopian camps, and even the opening of a new camp by the UNHCR. IJP and Voices for Sudan believe that it is important to visit these areas to inform our work and make the voices of the refugees heard.
IJP and Voices for Sudan were 2 of only 100 Sudan-focused advocacy groups invited to participate in this pre-Summit NGO conference to the 21st ordinary session of the African Union's Assembly of Heads of State and Government. We are honored to be at such an important event, as the information gleaned here and in the camps will help shape our future programs and enrich our connections to other advocacy groups on the ground.
To make this peace-building trip to the camps a reality, we need your help! So please donate here or Crowdrise or by visiting our website--www.internationaljusticeproject.com--and clicking the large donate button in the middle of the homepage (will link to Paypal). You can also send a check to International Justice Project, c/o Wanda Akin, Esq., One Gateway Center, Suite 2600, Newark, NJ 07102. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
Thank you for your support!
