Help victims of domestic violence achieve greater economic self sufficiency by donating to ICADV's Emergency Assistance for Victims of Domestic Violence in Illinois. Donations made to this fund are distributed to survivors in the form of one time grants to help achieve economic self sufficiency such as transportation costs; rent/security deposits for new, safer homes; utilities and phone hook ups; medical/dental expenses not covered by insurance; and child care. Financial control of domestic violence survivors has long been recognized as a prevalent and powerful tactic, compelling victims to remain with the abuser or return to him/her. Whether a survivor is employed or unemployed, her/his access to household income, bank accounts, assets and investments is often denied or restricted. A survivor’s credit is often ruined by the abuser, and her/his ability to keep a job or go to school is compromised by the abuse. Help survivors get back on their feet and on their way to a safer life for themselves and their children by donating to this fund.
