Making a difference by helping students reach their potential:
School psychologists make important contributions to the social, emotional and academic development of students by serving as advocates for good mental health and safe, supportive learning environments. Working as partners with parents, educators and fellow mental health professionals, school psychologists help students reach optimal levels of achievement and well-being. School psychologists in Illinois have specialized training in child development, mental health, learning theory, motivation, and education.
The Mission of ISPA is to serve the educational and mental health interests of all children by promoting:
- The rights of all children, youth, and their families for healthy development and optimal educational attainment
- The highest standards for competent and ethical school psychological services (model standards of training, credentialing, service, and practice)
- The advancement of the profession of school psychology.
- The maintenance of an organizational structure that assures a sound, dynamic, and member responsive organization.
