Recovery from mental health challenges, even big scary ones, is not just possible. It's likely. Research tells us so and our own lives prove it. Still most people, including little children and youth, are given the hopeless message that a diagnosis is a life sentence of defeat and dependence on medications. But this simply isn't true. Studies show that people are likely to experience recovery with little or no use of psychiatric medication and that the path to wellness is unique to each person. It is a path of discovery that includes our mind, body, environment, spirit, relationships and life experiences. Recovery begins with hope, and hope begins with the expectation of recovery. It begins with us.
