Back in 2008, Imagine Syracuse began teaching music, dance and art to a handful of kids living in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Syracuse, NY. Today, we reach more than 300 children across the city and join Syracuse University's Near Westside Initiative to help artistically revitalize this culturally rich and vibrant neighborhood!
The Imagine Syracuse's Young Musician Project (iSYMP) is our most exciting program yet and is literally putting Syracuse on the international musical map! Inspired by Venezuela's El Sistema, iSYMP joins a groundbreaking global movement in music education that uses DAILY classical orchestral music training and enrichment to strengthen inner city education and help children as young as 5 become musicians, build better lives and grow healthier communities.
Daily music education is the key. Think of it like this: a high school soccer player practices every day after school with her team, building skills, teamwork and commitment. Teach music the same way and a kid can play the violin as if she'd been taking weekly private lessons for a year and a half! Our students become productive and committed musicians creating music that transcends themselves and their problems.
YOUR $50 DONATION PAYS FOR ONE CLASS IN VIOLIN, CELLO, VIOLA, OBOE, TROMBONE, TRUMPET OR FLUTE FOR UP TO 15 CHILDREN! PLEASE DONATE AND KEEP THE MUSIC PLAYING!
