BENEFITING: AGAHOZO-SHALOM YOUTH VILLAGE INC
EVENT DATE: Dec 29, 2015
I'm turning 29 on the 29th and hope you will pitch in to help me donate my birthday.
This year I had the opportunity to travel to Rwanda as part of my internship with Westrock Coffee company. Living in Kigali gave me some needed perspective and time for introspection, and learning about the genocide in Rwanda has driven me to continue to look inward and learn about my own family's story of Holocaust survival.
To continue to support this country that touched me in so many ways, I am raising money for the Agahozo Shalom Youth Village. Agahozo was established after the 1994 genocide to enable vulnerable and orphaned youth in Rwanda to realize their maximum potential by providing them with a safe and secure living environment, health care, education and necessary life skills. Education and service are used to model and create socially responsible citizens in Rwanda and around the world.
The Agahozo Shalom Youth Village is modeled after an Israeli youth village established in 1953 to house orphans from the Holocaust.
