Welcome to my 2015 iMentor fundraising page!
As many of you know, I'm involved with iMentor, a mentoring program for New York City high school students. iMentor provides students in low-income communities with mentors who are dedicated to helping them succeed in college and beyond.
I know I’ve asked some of you to donate before, but I’m asking again for your support because it’s a fantastic program that’s creating more impact than ever and uses the support so efficiently.
As an example, I’ve been matched with a number of great mentees, including Jamal (in the photo next to me). Like many kids at his school, Jamal has a large family but he grew up without many strong male role-models. When we met, he assumed he would drop out of high school to look for work. Instead Jamal decided to go to a Community College, which he’s enjoyed and has helped shape a much different outlook on his future. Jamal himself is now a role-model for his younger siblings. I'm not saying that me personally, or even iMentor, was the only factor in this growth - but I think it's fair to say we played a part!
I continue to be involved on the Young Executive Board of iMentor, being part of decision making that’s helping to grow the organization, and this year the program expands out of New York and into Chicago. And regardless of your politics, it was pretty cool that Michelle Obama picked an iMentor mentee to sit with her as her guest at this year’s State of the Union address.
Thank you for your continued support!
Every donation makes a difference.
It costs iMentor $1,000 to provide one mentor-mentee pair with access to iMentor’s proven college success curriculum and resources. Here is what your support does for New York City’s students:
$25 allows a mentee to attend a year of iMentor events
$100 supplies a mentee with a year's access to monthly career and college preperation events.
$500 can provide a college application event for an entire Junior class
$1,000 can support the mentorship of one student as they work one-on-one with their mentor toward academic and personal success
iMentor builds mentoring relationships that empower students in low-income communities to graduate high school, succeed in college, and achieve their ambitions. Students and mentors work one-on-one through iMentor’s online and in-person curriculum to navigate the college application process and build critical skills linked to college success.
