EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
Hi Everyone! Thank you for taking an interest in iMentor and visiting my fundraising page. This year I am running the New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 6th to support and fundraise for iMentor.
I have been involved in iMentor since 2014 as a mentor to a Bronx-based high school student and have seen first-hand how impactful iMentor can be for these students. It has been a great experience getting involved in iMentor and I am fortunate to also be a part of the iMentor marathon team this year.
By donating to iMentor, you are helping to provide students with the resources and support network they need to achieve a successful high school and college education. My mentee John, all of the students participating in iMentor, and I would all really appreciate your support!
iMentor is a 4-year mentoring program that promotes higher education by pairing high school students in low-income communities with college-educated professionals. Typically these students do not have any relatives who have attended college - iMentor builds mentoring relationships that empower these students to graduate high school, pursue a college education, and achieve their ambitions.
Since 1999, iMentor has connected more than 13,000 students with mentors. In the next 5 years, iMentor will scale to serve more than 20,000 mentor-mentee pairs. In New York City, Chicago, and the San Francisco Bay area, iMentor partners with public schools to ensure every student in the schools receives a mentor. This year, iMentor is serving 3,500 students, its largest number of first-generation college students ever. iMentor team members will have the opportunity to raise awareness and support for iMentor, helping more students from low-income communities succeed in college and achieve their ambitions.
