THE STORY:

Friends and family,

As some of you are aware, I am running the New York marathon this year for the first (and last) time, and I am doing so on behalf of a non-profit mentoring organization, iMentor.

I have been a mentor with iMentor for the past year. iMentor partners with schools in low-income communities where a majority of the students will be first generation college students, with the goal of providing guidance and support for the students to guide them through high school and the college admission process.

In the picture is my mentee, Melvin. The kid is an absolute stud. He's extremely driven, a genuinely nice kid, does well in school, plays football and baseball, and never misses an opportunity to let me know how much better the Yankees are than the Mets. He's extremely focused on his schoolwork and getting into a good college, and I'm excited to see what he'll be able to accomplish.

When I was teaching, my favorite aspect of it was the relationships I built with the students and swimmers. iMentor has provided me the same opportunity, and I feel strongly that the program offers a significant benefit to both the students and the mentors.

To that end, I'd like to ask you to please consider donating to my fundraising campaign. Your donation will be going towards a great cause (you can see details below), and all donations are greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your support!

Joe
