This November I will be running the NYC Marathon, my 6th marathon! As a pre-requisite for running I will be raising money for iMentor, an organization that builds mentoring relationships between young professionals and first-generation students from low-income communities.
I have been involved with iMentor since September 2016 when I was paired with my mentee, a freshman from the Bronx. The program is structured so that we meet once a month and maintain weekly communications throughout the school year. I was part of a similar program in high school called the La Vida Scholars and I credit that program for helping me through the college application process.
I encourage you to learn more about the organization at their website (link) and consider becoming a mentor! The matching process takes some time and it is definitely not too late!
I hope that you can donate as any little bit helps! If not, I hope to see you on the course!
