BENEFITING: Imerman Angels
ORGANIZER: Imerman Angels
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
On November 6, 2016 I will run the NYC marathon. If all goes well, it will be one of two marathons I run this year. As you all know, over the last 8 years I've raced everything from 5K's to Ironman (twice!). It's become a huge part of who I am. This will be, however, the first time I dedicate, not just one race, but my entire racing season to charity. Why?
There is probably no one out there today who has not been touched by cancer in some way. Even if you haven't lost someone, even if you haven't battled the disease yourself, you know someone who has: A co-worker, a friend, a cousin, a grandparent, a parent, a spouse, a child. In 2016, an estimated 1.6 million Americans will be diagnosed with cancer. Close to 600,000 will lose their battle. Cancer. The word alone is scary. The diagnosis, isolating. But it doesn't have to be.
Ten years ago Imerman Angels was born out of the idea that no one should go through cancer alone. That there is someone out there, just like you, who has been through the same thing, and survived it, who can now share those life experiences, who can be that beacon of hope, that hand to hold onto.
On a personal note, I can say I'm lucky. While my grandmother and two of my uncles have been diagnosed with cancer, I've not lost anyone to the disease. I hope that I never have to turn to Imerman Angels for a mentor. But if it does happen, I know I'll get through it, with their support and compassion. They are truly, an amazing organization, made up of wonderful people who do great work.
So please, if you can, I'd appreciate your support. No amount is too small. And clearly, no amount too big ;). And remember, your donation is 100% tax deductible.
So help me, help Imerman Angels so that no one has to go through cancer alone.
Thank you. ❤️❤️❤️
