BENEFITING: SPECIAL OLYMPICS MINNESOTA INC
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2011
I choose to run in the NYC Marathon for Special Olympics Minnesota for two reasons. The first reason involves my good friend and neighbor named Jerry. He and I were always a part of the action. We played and talked baseball almost every single day. I was over at our house all the time and we just had fun growing up together. As we grew older Jerry and I visited whenever our families got together. Jerry now lives in Rhode Island so I don't get to see him much, but to me he is truly a Special Olympian! I have seen how much of an impact Special Olympics Minnesota has had on everyone’s lives. I am committed to beating my old marathon time this year and I am hoping you can help me reach my goal and help spread the word.
Please help me reach my goal by donating a $1 or more for every mile I run in the New York City Marathon. I will be donating 100% of all the proceeds to Special Olympics Minnesota. You can follow my training program each week by visiting this site to see how I am progressing and what I am doing to beat my old marathon time.
Special Olympics Minnesota offers children and adults with intellectual disabilities year-round sports training and competition. Through Special Olympics’ athletic, health and leadership programs, people with intellectual disabilities transform themselves, their communities and the world.
