Imperial Valley Service Center American Red Cross
“A Heart and a Dollar” Each day, I am inspired by the generous and selfless actions of people who give of themselves to help people in need. Time and again, the terrible thread of disasters – in our community and across the world – bring out the best in people who donate to offer hope to others.
The support – whether a financial gift, contribution of valuable personal time or donations of blood – enables your American Red Cross to:
- Provide food, shelter and emotional support to disaster survivors
- Support military members and their families
- Teach skills that save lives
- Supply nearly half of the nation’s blood
- Offer international humanitarian assistance
As the Red Cross serves those in need and fulfills our humanitarian mission, we are striving to improve and transform our historic organization. We are consolidating and streamlining our operations nationwide, working to operate more efficiently, with transparency and accountability to our generous donors and volunteers.
I believe there is no greater mission than helping those in need and providing a way for citizens of our country, and of the world, to help one another. You — and your support of the American Red Cross —make that possible.
Stewardship Our goals are to make the best use of donor dollars and to serve the public even better. With that said, our World Red Cross Day Committee and Leadership finds itself at a crossroads of having to repurpose its Annual Premiere Fundraising event into a Red, White and You! ROLL CALL – to what was the original efforts to fundraise by the American Red Cross in the form of a Roll Call in 1917, where an urgent appeal was made to all of the citizens throughout the United States.
On June 17, 1917 – the first Roll Call appeal to all Americans was made, stating that everyone could participate – the appeal called that all that was needed was “a heart and a dollar.” It seems fit to conclude our Roll Call on what will mark the 100th Year of the first Roll Call.
Will you answer the Imperial Valley Service Center Roll Call?
