EVENT DATE Jun 30, 2016

There is a long history of animal-human conflict which affects both farmers and world animals. Our country is very well endowed in world life sanctuaries which promote both domestic and foreign tourism. The tourism sector it the major contributor of foreign exchange and gross domestic income. Farming on the other hand has been the main source of food security to majority of Kenyans at all time, but in contrast food insecurity is still a huge problem today. World animals contributes negatively to the productivity of the farmers who farms near ranches and animal reserves. They feed on famers crops or step on them before they are harvested. This leads to poor productivity and demoralizes farmers to keep up with their activities which requires a lot of investment.

Meet Paul.

Paul 35years old is a farmer .He is a father of two and the wife. They have been relying on farming as their main economic activity for the last ten years. Farming has been adversely affected by several factor in recent times. These factors are short periods of rain, depleted soil nutrients, changing productivity patterns of crops and crop destruction by world animal. To contain these shortcomings, it requires a lot of capital investment. Most farmers, who are his neighbors, have almost given up. The cost of keeping animals away from farms involves guarding the farms .This is done at night since these when animal break from their protected areas. The destruction of crops is the worst of all the problems since it always happen when the crops have established. This means his investment is brought down before maturity. It is for this reason I decided to share with the world, that the world should be a comfortable place for anyone to live in it. It was and still is the desire of our creator to enjoy it.

Current Situation

For several years destruction of farmers’ crops by world animals has been dealt with by communities, ranch owners and the politicians to solve these problems. Unfortunately a well thought idea has never been implemented to curb this problem. The farmers have for a long time used indigenous method of protected the farms by scaring the animal. They do it by shouting, beating drums which keep off the animals. However, on bad days when the animals like elephants or buffaloes come to the farms, it is very difficult to scare them .Sometimes these animal kill the farmers.

The Project

I am a computer science professional and my work is to change and transform lives with my skills. I have always wanted to promote the less fortunate communities with every way I am able to do. I am coming up with a system of connecting farmers and involving few paid guards who will work on shift basis. This is a solution which involve implementing a Software to do shift guard management and keeping the farmers alert using mobile phones .Most farmers own mobile phones. The system will also involve improvising is scares that have sounds and smell and humanized objects, which will keep of animals away from the farms. My intention is to raise about USD 50-100K.This will enough develop the system and other costs which will make my pilot successful.

I believe we can make the world a better place for all living creatures!
