Improve a village school's infrastructure
Organized by: Siddharth Das
Greetings, Thank you so much visiting our crowdfunding page. A government school 30 kilometers from the city of Jaipur is almost in shambles. It enrolls around 300 students from the 1st to the 12th grade. All students are academically very good and very ambitious about their and the village's future. Having run a small survey we compiled a list of problems faced by the students, which are mentioned below :- 1. No toilets for any gender. 2. No purified drinking water available. Only one tap is installed in the school premises by the government but the supply of water is intermittent. 3. No power supply. 4. Walls inside the classes have huge cracks and let all the rain water in. A section of the school is dangerously supported by just a single beam running through the ceiling which is supported by weak pillars. 5. Blackboards and benches non-existence. Teachers write on the wall and student sit on the floor amongst lot of dirt. 6. No security in the entire school which led to the theft of 15 new computers provided by the government. 7. No tubelights and fans inthe classes. 8. No proper waste management system. 9. Low-rise boundary wall leading to students escaping classes and villages flocking the school at night to drink alcohol. These are some of the many major issues pointed out by the students. Having seen this condition, we formed a small group of around 30 members, collected funds ( around $300 ) and solved the water storage and purification problem. We now need funds urgently for the construction of toilets for children and staff and a small renovation of the cracked walls and the weak pillars. We also wish to install blackboards in the classes and solar panels on the roof for the water purification system to operate independently. For all these we need your help. Though the amount is not huge, the change and impact would be. Please support us in creating a better facilitated school for these children so that atleast they do not feel deprived of their basic needs. Thank you.
