Dear Family and Friends,
As many of you know, Lee Bahny loved the Adirondacks. Whenever there was a chance to go with his family, climbing friends, or Boy Scouts he took that opportunity. He enjoyed all the Adirondacks had to offer including hiking, rock and ice climbing, canoeing, camping and much more.
We've decided to establish a permanent legacy in his honor through the Adirondack Mountain Club. We've asked the Club that an Adirondack chair be built and named in his honor. It will be placed near the beach on Heart Lake at the Adirondack Loj and High Peaks Information Center. A plaque will also be placed on a bench at the High Peaks Information Center.
The High Peaks were one of his favorite places and though his pursuit of completing the 46 High Peaks was left unfinished, we could think of no better place for this chair and plaque. So many people will sit in it, see his name, and know the Adirondacks were a special place for him.
Our goal is to raise at least $1500. If we surpass our goal, they will use the funds to protect the High Peaks so others can enjoy them, too. The proceeds from this not only go to constructing the chair and plaque, but will also support the ADK Club's continuing stewardship of the Adirondacks. We can think of nothing he'd like more.
We will be completing a hike in his honor in September 2017 and invite anyone who is interested to join us.
We made our gift to get things started and respectfully ask if you will join us. Donations in any amount are appreciated. You can make your gift using this website or with a check made out to ADK and sent to their headquarters at 814 Goggins Road Lake George, NY 12845. You can also call Erin at 518.668.4447 ext 19 with your credit card. Whichever you choose, please note Lee Bahny’s name. The team there will make sure any gifts given in his name will support the chair and plaque. Thank you, in advance for making this legacy possible.
