BENEFITING: THE JED FOUNDATION
Michael Durant Bonner
September 20, 1996- July 5, 2016
Michael is the youngest son of Jeff and Cathie Bonner, brother to Drew (Merrick), Catherine Bonner Goudreau (Nick), and Austin (Shelby) Bonner, and grandson of Floyd and Elizabeth Bonner and Gene Christian and the late Carolyn Christian. A 2015 graduate of Oak Mountain High School, Michael had completed his freshman year at Ole Miss as a student in the Center for Manufacturing Excellence with a focus in finance.
Michael loved all music, but especially the band Phish. He was a gifted, self-taught musician with a natural talent for instruments. Because of his kind, fun-loving, and gregarious nature, Michael was always surrounded by a large group of friends, including his girlfriend, Callie Leopard.
A deep thinker, Michael was always looking to expand his mind. He was confident and creative, with an entrepreneurial spirit to match. Michael was unique and unconventional, unafraid to go against the norm. He challenged all of us to look at the world differently and “surrender to the flow” of life.
Michael D was a wonderful, quirky, bright kid who marched to his own beat, but he suffered from depression for several years and made a momentary decision, in illness, that he can now never rethink. Michael was deeply loving and deeply loved and we will miss him until we see him again.
