In Memory of the Jews of Egypt
Organized by: Jon DeMol
At their height 80,000 Jews played a huge role in the economy and the arts of Cairo. Following the Six-Day War, 1967, all Egyptian Jewish men were thrown out of Egypt or taken to the notorious Abou Za'abal Detention Centre where they were incarcerated and tortured for more than 3 years. The result was the complete disappearance of the 3000 year-old Jewish Community in Egypt. Our fund will build a Memorial in Cairo, on land already purchased, in Memoriam to the Jews of Egypt.
