Increase the Panama Rainforest
Organized by: Rhonda Frazier-Evans
Rainforests are an integral part of fighting CO2, maintaining the micro climate, and they are home to a variety of animals, insects, and natives. When they are cutdown and stripped for farmland, erosion occurs, contaminating the rivers and creeks, and eventually, our oceans. With the money, I intend to purchase 10+ acres of stripped rainforest and replanting it.
My idea is to buy 10-15 acres of land that has been stripped and replant it to increase the rainforest. Trouble is, I live on a pension and can contribute only a little financially. I need around $85k after taxes, so I am asking for $100k. That seems like a lot, but it will go toward purchasing the land, planting the seedlings, and maintaining the property to avoid fires for at least 4 yrs. This is not a living expense for me, I will pay own way on that.
Now, if I don't reach my goal, I will still purchase the property and plant the trees, it will just be smaller and less effective.
