India volunteer trip
Organized by: Tony Pirone
I will be traveling to Kerala, which is located in the southern region of India. This volunteer trip will take place from October 23rd through the first week of November, 2015. I will play significant roles throughout this trip such as inspiring, empowering, bringing awareness and giving out beauty/medical supplies to those effected by breast cancer.
Breast Cancer is the single most common cancer in India. The best way to survive this cancer is to bring awareness and have screenings done regularly. This will detect the cancer early rather then later and is an important factor in long term survival. However, In India there is a lack of this causing late presentation of cancer.
After personally being effected by breast cancer by seeing my own grandmother fight it, It really is important for those to get the proper supplies and awareness to survive longterm. If it wasn't for my mother and those who empowered my grandmother through her own battles with breast cancer, my grandmother might not be here today.
Your money will play a huge role in getting me to India and impact those in a positive way by helping women with little or no money survive this horrible disease. Not only will we be helping those in India, but all the research and information taken from there will be brought back to help those (especially those who are Indian) in the states and specifically those fighting breast cancer in Princeton, NJ. Money will help cover plane ticket, food and living expenses.
