Indian Primary Student's Khushi
Organized by: Harshida Kohli
Donate to make a primary student's dream a reality. My name is Harshida Kohli and I am a 12th Grader. My friend, Juliette Simon, and I, having had first hand experience working in the slums of Ahmedabad, wanted to continue helping under-privileged children. Therefore, we created a three week project in Gurgaon, New Delhi, where we will teach basic English, Math and Computer Sciences to students at two primary schools; Rashtrahit Vidyalaya and Karuna Evening School (an NGO supported by SAP) from July 30th to August 17th. The schools are run entirely on donations, and cannot secure all of the students’ needs, therefore we need to fund three important changes these children could benefit from. Firstly, the children should have the right to know more if they want to further their understanding. We would thus like to buy 2 Lenovo laptops (one for each school) along with a one-year internet connection contract. Secondly, most of the girls at the schools use cloth to take care of their menstrual needs, but do not sanitise the cloth in UV light, which can lead to serious diseases. We want to secure a one year supply of free pads for the girls in the schools with the help of the Rotary Club. Thirdly, we would also like to repair the toilet for children at Rashtrahit Vidyalaya, since the clean water and working plumbing could help their daily needs. Our total fund requirement is 3830 €. Our school awarded us 1500 €, and thanks to the generosity of many parents, teachers and classmates, we have already raised 773.05 €. We still need more money to achieve our targets, and are leaving in only a month. If we receive more donations than the goal, we will buy two more laptops for the schools and secure napkins for the other schools run by the Rotary Club. No matter how small, any contribution can help. We truly hope that we have managed to reach your heart through this description. Thank you very much, Harshida Kohli and Juliette Simon.
