THE STORY:

I went to my first Timmy Global Health callout meeting fall of freshman year not knowing what to expect. I immediately became fascinated by the passion of all of Timmy's members and couldn't wait to sign up by the end of the meeting. This is now my third year involved in Timmy Global Health, and it has been the best thing that has happened to me in college. I have grown so much as a person, becoming more confident in speaking to others and more passionate about global health. Four years ago, if you had told me I would be going to college tailgates asking strangers for money, I would think you were crazy! Now this is something I do every home football game!

Now you should learn about all of the amazing things Timmy does as an organization! Timmy Global Health is a non-profit based in Indianapolis whose goals are to eliminate global health disparities as well as empower students to become passionate about global health.  They form partnerships with communities in countries that need help to ensure that they are doing the best thing for that community. They then send brigades of students and medical professionals several times a year to provide medical care in communities that don't normally have access to it. Timmy's ultimate goal is helping a community until it is no longer needed there

That's where the collegiate chapters come in! Indiana University has a partner clinic in Xela, Guatemala, and we fundraise to support this clinic. Our money goes to funding year-round local doctors to ensure continuity of care for the patients as well as funding referrals for patients who have problems that we can't fix. The past two years, I was lucky enough to witness this first-hand when I travelled to Guatemala on my first medical brigade with Timmy.

IU Timmy was the first collegiate chapter and is consistently the one of the highest fundraiser out of the forty collegiate chapters across the country. Last year, we raised almost $20,000! This year, we are trying to raise $25,000, and all of this money goes directly to Guatemala. This organization and cause is something I'm extraordinarily passionate about, so I'm asking you to help! Thank you so much for reading!
