Timmy Global Health is an Indianapolis-based nonprofit that expands access to healthcare and empowers students and volunteers to tackle today’s most pressing global health challenges. We believe all people, regardless of who they are, what resources they have, and where they live, should have access to quality healthcare.
The TGH chapter at Indiana University focuses on supporting both the local Bloomington community and various communities within Guatemala. Our chapter plans several fundraising and advocacy events, including: the Global Dinner, the Global Health Symposium, the spring Glow Run, an annual benefit dinner and silent auction, and grocery drives (to collect vitamins, medicine, etc).
The money we raise goes directly to our partner organization, Pop Wuj, a Spanish school in Guatemala that runs a free health clinic. The yearlong efforts from our students help fund this clinic and provide the necessary resources it needs to remain open. Over spring break, 20 students from IU visit the Pop Wuj clinic and several surrounding communities. We recruit doctors, nurses, and pharmacists that travel with us, ensuring a high standard of care for the patients.
In the 2015-2016 academic school year, we increased the number of fundraising events held on campus and raised almost $20,000. We are excited to continue our work here at Indiana University for Timmy Global Health. Please consider donating for this wonderful cause. Our proceeds will go directly to support the patients we serve in rural Guatemala. Here is what your donation can do:
$28 pays for THREE YEARS of hypertension meds for a Timmy patient
$32 provides prenatal care for an expecting mother
$50 ensures five patients get the x-rays they need
$75 purchase a year's supply of vitamins for 15 children
$100 treats 200 patients for intestinal parasites
