EVENT: 2017 Rock the Ridge 50
EVENT DATE: May 06, 2017
I will be "coming out of retirement" on May 6, 2017 to run in the Rock The Ridge 50 Mile Endurance Challenge, a 50-mile race and environmental fundraiser. The race is set in the natural beauty of Mohonk Preserve, a vast, nonprofit nature preserve situated in the mid-Hudson Valley of New York State.
Having completed over 40 marathons and ultramarathons in the past 24 years, including the 2000 Vermont 100 Mile Endurance Run, I decided to register for this race to challenge myself to get back in ultrarunning shape and in doing so, to raise money for a great cause that this race supports.
The Mohonk Preserve is an organization that protects and manages over 8,000 acres of mountain ridges, forests, fields, streams, ponds, and other unique environments in the Shawangunk Mountain range. As New York State's largest nonprofit nature preserve, every year they welcome 165,000 visitors who come to run, rock climb, mountain bike, hike, ski, and study and enjoy nature.
While the fundraising goal of the entire race is $250,000, my personal goal is to raise $1000. My hope is that you will be able to help me reach my goal with a small $5 or $10 donation to my fundraising campaign.
