In mid-2015 I started thinking about what it would take to walk or run 100,000 steps in a single day. By Autumn, I decided I would make it a goal of mine.
For me, 100,000 steps would equal about 45-48 miles. A few months after setting this goal a friend let me know about Rock the Ridge, a 50-mile endurance challenge and environmental fundraiser. It seemed like a good outlet for this endeavor due to its organization (rest stops and support staff along the way), social element (I will need all the encouragement I can get), and purpose (I am happy to help raise funds for the Mohonk Preserve).
I need to raise $250 by April 26, 2016 to take part in the event. A donation would help the Preserve maintain its undeveloped lands, supplement their educational and scientific programs, and show your support for my attempt to overcome this challenge. Any support you would like to offer me or the Mohonk Preserve would be much appreciated.
