I have been so lucky to spend this past year living with a crazy wonderful human named Natasha, who occasionally comes home at the end of a long day and announces that she's signed up for a 50 mile ultra-marathon. I said "hell no" for awhile, until it just seemed like more fun to say "hell yeah" instead.
So now we're doing it! On April 30th, we'll be jogging, hiking, and very possibly crawling through the hills of the Mohonk Nature Preserve for 50 miles. Neither of us is particularly trained for this because med school, but we figure we're young and healthy and YOLO so why not?
This next endurance adventure is dedicated to all of the green places that keep on keeping on - often right next door to gigantic cities - in an all-too-quickly changing world. To help communicate that, I'm turning this into a body art project too!
Everyone who participates in Rock the Ridge helps raise a modest amount of money to keep Mohonk Preserve the lovely green nature space that it is. For any donation - I'm seriously talking about the 50 cents in pennies that are floating around your sock drawer, half of which you may have already donated to Bernie Sanders - click on the link below and tell me your favorite quiet spot/green place/urban forest sanctuary/secluded beach! All those places will be lovingly transcribed with something exciting like glitter glue and carried (and tbh probably Instagrammed) over those 50 miles with us, making some small statement about why these places matter in the bigger-picture-fight for the planet.
