BENEFITING: UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN
ORGANIZER: Team Information Access &
EVENT DATE: Mar 08, 2013
I am trying to raise money for the University of Michigan School of Information and its Alternative Spring Break program, running this year from March 4th through March 8th of 2013. ASB will allow me to participate in a service orientated project that will help build a bridge between UMSI and the community, while giving me professional skills through hands on experience.
A little bit more about the project that I will be involved in: I will be working at the Smithsonian Institution Archives in Washington D.C. The SIA is currently working on preparing to make a portion of its digital collection accessible online. As their ASB intern I will help embed, enhance and organize EAD finding aids with links to these collections.
The Smithsonian Institution Archives is just one organization receiving students this year. There are dozens of others, both small and large that are in desperate need of the student volunteers who are offering their skills and services to individual projects in order to build a better community through ASB.
My goal is to raise 500 dollars, and while there is great incentive for me do so (my fee to participate will be waived), the money ASB participants raise will go towards continuing the valuable service this program provides struggling organizations for years to come.
Help me by please making a donation! Every donation counts and will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
