BENEFITING: UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN
ORGANIZER: Team Information Access &
EVENT DATE: Mar 08, 2013
Hello, friends and family!
Welcome to my Crowdrising page for the University of Michigan School of Information's Alternative Spring Break trip!
Although fundraising has never been my forte, I do believe that this is a good cause and hope that I might convince you of the same.
How the Alternative Spring Break will benefit others:
Various institutions have reached out to our School of Information to get student help. For example, there are many cultural heritage institutes that do not have the time and/or resources to carry out all the tasks they want done. The Alternative Spring Break Trip is an ideal way for these organizations to get week-long support from students who often have more skills and knowledge in information-related jobs than the average volunteer.
My personal hopes for ASB:
I will be working with the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, helping out with the Rinzler Archives. As a student interested in archives and preservation, I look forward to getting my hands on some interesting materials, aiding the Smithsonian in physical preservation measures, meeting the staff of an incredible organization, and learning a lot in an area that interests me. ASB was one reason I chose the School of Information, and I truly believe that this experience has the potential to influence my future career.
My request to you:
I'm sure everyone gets many requests for donations, but anything you can give is truly appreciated! Not only would this help me, personally, but it will help the School of Information continue this program so that other students and institutions may benefit from it in the future.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and consider my fundraiser.
