On Saturday, April 12, at Cantigny Park in Wheaton, runners and their families will gather for the inaugural Foodie 5K fun run featuring a post-run festival with live entertainment, food trucks and a kid’s zone to benefit Northern Illinois Food Bank.
Between the snow storms and polar temperatures, we all have felt the impact of this extended winter. These record-breaking weather issues have budget-breaking effects, especially for our hungry neighbors. Rising heat costs, shortened work hours and already stretched budgets are tested even further. Did you know that:
- $20 provides a monthly food box to a senior who is unable to visit a food pantry
- $30 provides $240 worth of groceries each month
- $60 provides a food-filled backpack to feed three children every weekend of the school year.
A community fun run/walk featuring a post-run festival with music provided by 93.9 MyFM, delicious food from local Food Trucks, a Kids' Zone with fun fitness activities provided by My Gym Wheaton, and the opportunity to meet Ozzie from the Kane County Cougars.
All registered participants receive a $2 voucher to be redeemed at any participating food truck and a ticket voucher for any 2014 Kane County Cougars home game. Participants registered by March 1 will receive a 2014 Foodie 5K moisture wicking, long sleeved t-shirt.
