Hi! I'm Ingrid VanDeLinder and I ran my first half marathon in 2011. My friend Chrissy asked me if I would train to run a marathon with her and I thought she was crazy. I stuck to the training plan and ended up completing my first half marathon in April 2011. After that, it became a challenge to myself to better my time on the the next half marathon, which I did. The following year I was coming home from work and while at a red light a drunk driver slammed into the back of my car at about 45 mph. I ended up being in physical therapy for a total of a year, had to have surgery on my shoulder, and ended up with permanent hip problems. I was out of running the whole year. I looked forward to when the doctor gave me the okay to run again. I wasn't running as fast as I was before but I got back out there (while still going through PT for my shoulder) and started with a Half marathon and had a lot of pain, but kept working towards getting back in shape and realizing the pain would always be there. In 2014 I was once again talked into pushing myself beyond my limits. My friend Chrissy suggested we run the Marine Corps Marathon. I wasn't the fastest runner out there but I did it. I chose to run it again this year to once again challenge myself physically and in another area... To see how i could benefit charities in the process. I wanted to run for those who couldn't. This will be my second marathon and it has a totally different meaning than the first. The first marathon was for my personal goal and pushing my body further than it wanted to go. This year I'm running for a purpose. Other info: I've run 5 half marathons / 1 marathon I'm studying to be a dietitian and have a Bachelors in Exercise Science Married to a Naval Officer who is on deployment. I don't know if this is the info you were looking for, but let me know if there is anything else I should add. Thanks for everything Ingrid VanDeLinder
