In Honor of Kris Cash
Organized by: Dennis Cash
On November 7, 2014, Kris Cash succumbed to her battle with stage 4 colon cancer. She leaves behind a husband, Jason and a 2-year old son, Jack. She was still in the prime of her life and did so many great things with her life in her short time with us.
One word - inspiration. This word best describes Kris prior to being diagnosed with cancer. As an emergency room nurse at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, she cared for the sick, held hands of the dying, and comforted families in their time of greatest need. She did all this, not only because it was her chosen occupation, but also because it was her gift, it was in her DNA. Kris had this uncanny ability to help others, to listen, to make one feel as if everything was going to be just fine. I am quite confident that had it not been for her cancer diagnosis, she would have continued to nurse the sick back to health while shining her ubiquitous smile on all of her patients. Cancer may have changed the trajectory of Kris's life, but it did not change her.
One word - superwoman. This word best describes Kris after she was diagnosed with cancer. Cancer may have taken over her physical attributes, but it could not destroy her mind and spirit, her bountiful love for others nor her zest for life. Those things always remained untarnished. Despite her diagnosis, Kris never lost her will to love and live. She remained selfless in spite of the chemo, endless needles, the countless tests, the never-ending waiting rooms, or the diminished hope for a cure. She was indeed a superwoman who continued to put others before herself, especially her husband, Jason and her 2-year old son, Jack.
Jason is a Long Beach Firefighter who also stands as an inspiration to all that know him. He was by Kris's side throughout her treatment and search for a cure, and even when the lights went dim on her life, he was there. Kris is the love of his life, and will always be his one true love. The courage he has shown during her battle is beyond words, just like the love they have for each other. Their marriage is truly a love story, one that resulted in a bouncing bundle of joy named Jack.
Jack is undoubtedly the best thing that ever happened to Jason and Kris. He has Kris's kind heart and Jason's towering stature. He is every bit their child and though she will never see him go to prom, graduate high school or marry, Kris's legacy and love will remain with him always. She will always be his angel.
Kris and Jason have given so much of themselves to help others as a nurse and firefighter, friend and family member, and now I ask your help in supporting them in their time of need. Though Kris has lost her life, her outstanding medical expenses still remain to the tune of $60,000. Let's help Jason and Jack, and let us honor the memory of Kris by making sure their medical bills are paid. We thank you for all your well wishes and support!!!
