BENEFITING: CATCH THE DREAM FOUNDATION
Welcome! This initial campaign is to raise funds to advance and support our dual missions of individual achievement (Reaching Full Potential) and volunteerism (People Helping People). In our short history, we have searched out, featured, and supported a diverse mix of individuals and organizations: Travis Southard biked across America to raise awareness for affordable housing, The Norristown Project is cleaning up and revitalizing the suburban Philadelphia borough one block at a time, Lauren Naccarelli, 28, donated a kidney to a perfect stranger for completely altruistic purposes, Where Angels Play Foundation built 26 playgrounds in northeast coastal communities devastated by Hurricane Sandy, each in honor of a victim of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, Charles Clark is a high school custodian who also mentors students in need of a father figure, Charlotte Tidwell is a 69-year old retired nurse who used her pension to found a food pantry where she volunteers 6-days a week, Justus Uwayesu was rescued (at age 10) from the landfill where he’d been living in Rwanda and just completed his first year at Harvard on a full scholarship, 17-year old Katie Stagliano founded a nonprofit to help feed the hungry when she was just 10, and Katie’s Krops now has 75 youth-run gardens in 27 states, Valerie Jensen converted a Connecticut playhouse that was slated for demolition into a nonprofit movie theater that employs 80 people, most of whom are disabled, and 100-year old Lillian Weber has been making one dress a day for the past 3½ years for Little Dresses for Africa, and just completed her 1000th dress. These are just some of the people and organizations that Catch the Dream has featured and supported. While we also feature those who may be better known, one of our goals is to shine a light on people and projects that are ‘under the radar,’ and to help more people know more about them. We are excited about the future, but we need your help! Your donation of just $10 will enable Catch the Dream to continue to search out, feature, and provide financial and other support for the organizers and problem-solvers, innovators and achievers, artists and performers, and those others whose efforts and talents enrich us all.
