THE STORY:

A Generation without Hope:

"A common thread to the revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt and protests elsewhere in the Middle East and North Africa is the soul-crushing high rate of youth unemployment. Twenty-four percent of young people in the region cannot find jobs. To be sure, protestors were also agitating for democracy, but nonexistent employment opportunities were the powerful catalyst" – Don Tapscott, The Guardian

In the past decade, Arab youth have fought tirelessly to change the political and socioeconomic status of the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region. Arab youth demand a louder voice, and the opportunity to create a successful future for themselves, but limited job markets and a sentiment of insecurity continue to plague the MENA region. Entrepreneurship education and real-world skills are necessary to make a difference for this generation, and avoid condemning them to live without hope.

INJAZ's Mission:

INJAZ Al-Arab undertook its mission in 2004 and has worked tirelessly to combat this problem and empower the youth of the MENA region today to become the leaders of tomorrow. Since its founding, INJAZ Al-Arab has reached 2 million Arab youth, and is continuing to expand. Recognized by the Global Journal as one of the world's top 100 NGOs, INJAZ Al-Arab developed its strategy centered on three pillars: financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and workforce readiness. Our innovative approach brings together students and business/executive volunteers in programs that bridge the gap between classroom education and real-world experience.

$25 today empowers one young person to get a job tomorrow via workforce readiness curriculum.

$50 teaches a young person how to save plan for their future
$250 sponsors a team of young people to start their own real life enterprise.
$5,000 rebuilds a classroom and sponsors its students to receive INJAZ programming.

$10,000 provides the seed funding to launch a student-run start up in countries like Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco and Algeria.

Our programs:

INJAZ programming has real impact. The capstone of INJAZ programs is Company Program. Students partner with a mentor, learn leadership skills, identify business opportunities, set goals, develop a business plan, create a marketing strategy, launch a product, report to shareholders and write an annual report. Along the way, entrepreneurs are born. A longitudinal assessment by Junior Achievement Canada found that 30% of those who complete the Company Program start entrepreneurial ventures of their own in the course of their careers, as opposed to less than 5% of the general population. Furthermore, a focus study in Jordan conducted by PKF Jordan revealed that 87% of INJAZ Alumni respondents were successfully employed within one year after their graduation, in comparison to the 30% national figure for graduates finding employment within one year. In other words, 70% of graduates in Jordan remain in waithood for more than 12 months before finding employment. The surveyed INJAZ cohort fared much better following graduation. Only 13% waited for more than one year before becoming employed.

Your role:

In order to reach and impact as many students as we can, we need your help.

There is no greater investment than education. By donating to INJAZ, you can help combat the escalating unemployment in the region, improve their career prospects, which may overcome pressing issues facing our region.

The future of this region lies in the hands of our youth, and it is time to give them the power they need to succeed.
