BENEFITING: Volunteers of Burbank Animal Shelter
In memory of our friend and animal-lover, Ann Cruz, we are fundraising in her memory to help do what she did in life - care for (and maybe even save) homeless animals in her hometown of Burbank, CA. Proceeds of this fundraiser go to the Volunteers of the Burbank Animal Shelter, a 501(c)(3) non-profit.
Ann Cruz was the owner and proprietor of "Ann Made Candles & Scarves" on Victory Blvd. in Burbank, CA. She was a graduate of our local college, Woodbury University, where she obtained her master's degree in Business Administration in 2001. On September 21, 2015 Ann lost her life from complications arising from a long term illness. She was 44.
Ann grew up in the San Fernando Valley and was the type of person who gave of herself to all those that knew and worked with her. What she gave us, her friends, was very precious. It was made of the "good stuff" - of kindness, of fairness and generosity, humor and tolerance. What she gave us was irreplaceable. Ann had a sense of love and appreciation of all four-legged and feathered critters. One of her pastimes was relaxing in the evening and watching the little neighborhood birds come to her feeder for their evening meal.
Chandler, however, was the love of her life. Ann adopted the female Pit/Lab mix from the Burbank Animal Shelter as a puppy. She named her new furry friend Chandler as a tribute to her craft of candle-making. With Ann now being gone from our lives (and Chandler's) we would like to see her legacy honored by contributing proceeds from this fundraiser to the Volunteers of the Burbank Animal Shelter.
We will have a an inscribed plaque mounted at the Burbank Animal Shelter in Ann's memory - a way for her friends to pay forward all the wonderful things she gave us and hopefully to inspire others to do the same for the shelter's past, present and future homeless residents.
Thank you for your interest and support of our dear friend, Ann Cruz, and her passion to help Burbank's homeless animals!
